We finally had some days of nice weather, but then the rain came back! :( It's supposed to be rainy all week! BUMMER!!
So this last week we had some good experiences.
Tuesday we met 2 people who said we could come back at a later time. That was exciting. One of them was a lady who used to work at the place we do service now... So she has had a lot of exposure to missionaries.
Wednesday Hannah came out tracting with us again. She took us to some of her friends. It was cool! We had some great experiences with that. Some of the people she took us too, she told us that they aren't friends, but she knows how much the gospel would help them. It was a great example to me of charity towards other people... and she is a recent convert! If only everyone had that desire to share the gospel with everyone, missionary work would be much easier! ;) We met this one lady named Deborah. She had been to church with some of her friends for like a 3-6 month time period in the 90's. But her ex-husband didn't want to taking her son there anymore, so she stopped. We talked to her for like 30 min. She lives in the Elders area, so we had to turn her info over to them. But she was saying how she felt at home when she came to our church. She was really neat. Hannah invited her to church, and she said she would come some time! :)
That night we taught Kelly again. She was wanting to move up her baptism date, so we decided to hit all the "hard" commandments head on. We taught Word of Wisdom, Law of Chastity, and Tithes and offerings. (Normally I would never do that... but the experience teaching her all those this week, really assured us how prepared she really is.) When we got there she told us she had taken the Word of Wisdom pamphlet from her boyfriends house, and had been reading that earlier that day. So it was a breeze to teach her. She accepted it all, and is starting to live it. We won't be moving up her baptism date though, because she is going to use the patches to stop smoking, and will be on those for 3 weeks, then needs 2 weeks off of them before she is baptized... so she is still on for June 18th! Then before we started teaching the Law of Chastity, she told us that she had already told her boyfriend she was going to live it.... so once again, it was a breeze to teach. The Sunday before we had had a tithing lesson in RS, and she was totally fine with tithing. So once again it was a breeze. She was glad that it was only 10%, because she heard of some other thing (religion or business man I don't remember) who said people should pay 30% in tithes. Most people are turned off, or really struggle with these 3 commandments... she LOVED them, and embraced them right off the back!! We left the lesson, as excited as ever!
Yesterday was a complete down pore all day. We had a dinner appointment at 4pm. When we got to their area, we still had 15 min., so we decided to go knock on a few houses. Well we got to 2 houses is all. The second house was the only people we talked too.... They said we could come back!!! They didn't have time then to have a lesson (and we really didn't either)... but the lady said she is looking. She was sick of hearing other people talk about other peoples religions. She wanted to learn for herself. She said she is Catholic, but doesn't really like it. She is studying a little with the Jehovah Witnesses right now, but is open to us coming back. Then her husband came out, and said he had met with missionaries before a couple times. He told his wife, "If you want to do your family history, the Mormons are the ones to go to. I think they have a nice center up in Concord for it." We were like, "Yes we do, we would love to help you with it if you are interested!" WE were super excited!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow we have Zone conference at the Joseph Smith Birthplace memorial. We have to be their at 8 am... it's about a 2 hour drive. So we will be waking up at like 4:30am!!! :( That won't be fun, but Zone conference is always amazing, so we are excited for that!!!
